Manchester United are coming off of an impressive summer transfer window when they managed to strengthen the squad significantly. Now, the focus must turn towards keeping the players who are already at Old Trafford.

Recent rumours have suggested that they want to extend the contracts of the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Luke Shaw and Jesse Lingard.

Most urgent are the contracts of Pogba and Lingard, as they are both in the final years of their current deals. Thus, they can open talks with foreign clubs in January. And it looks like there is going to be no lack of interest in either player’s signature.

Pogba has already been linked with the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and others. Now as reported by the Daily Mail, FC Barcelona and AC Milan will be at the front of the queue to sign Lingard if he departs Manchester United on a free transfer next summer. The English international rejected the offer of a new contract last month as he wanted to weigh up his options before making a decision on his future.

Lingard is an important part of this Manchester United team

Lingard has been in absolutely spectacular form in recent times. He was brilliant for West Ham United while on loan with them in the second half of last season. During that period of time, he was one of the best players in the entire Premier League.

He has also impressed for the England national team lately and while he might not be a regular in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI, he has had an important role to play this season for Manchester United.

Very often, the manager has brought him off the bench and he has managed to make an impact on most occasions, even scoring a stunning winner against West Ham United.

Thus, there is no question that he is an important part of this Manchester United team and someone that they must try to keep hold of.
