Manchester United have made some tremendous signings in recent times. It was just this summer that they brought in Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton. Now, it looks like the Red Devils’ focus will turn towards extending the contracts of those already at the club.
It is already believed that the club are trying to extend the current deals of the likes of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard. And now, they have another first-team star on their radar in that regard.
That man is Harry Maguire, the Manchester United captain who has been a regular in the heart of their defence ever since joining the club back in 2019 from Leicester City
As reported by The Sun, Manchester United have told Maguire that they want to offer him a bumper new contract as a reward for establishing himself as a key player at the Theatre of Dreams. The new package could be in the region of £300,000 a week and for five years.
Manchester United want to offer Maguire a new contract
There is no doubt about the fact that Maguire is one of the most important players at Manchester United right now, both on and off the pitch.
Not only has he impressed in the heart of defence in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side but he has also established himself as one of the leaders of this team.
Maguire is now 28 years of age and a new five year deal would mean that he would spend his prime years as a footballer at Old Trafford. And considering the fact that he is viewed as an integral part of this team for the foreseeable future, that is certainly the right decision.
The combination of Maguire and Varane in the heart of defence can be a regular sight at Old Trafford for years to come.
