Manchester United have been linked with a move for Erling Haaland for years now. And it is not hard to see why, considering Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already managed the Norwegian superstar in the past, during their time together at Molde.
Still just 21 years of age, there is no doubt about the fact that Haaland is already one of the best players in world football and he has the potential to become one of the most dominant players of his generation for years to come.
There were some doubts earlier on whether his early career form would fade away but as he has continued to score goal after goal, year after year, there is no doubt now that he is absolutely the real deal.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Haaland has scored 68 goals and provided 19 assists in just 67 appearances for Borussia Dortmund. This season, he has an astounding 11 goals and 4 assists from 8 appearances till now!
Manchester United have internal agreement over making Haaland move
As reported by Manchester Evening News (via Express) both Solskjaer and Manchester United Football Director John Murtough are in mutual agreement that Haaland is the preferred long-term striker target.
Considering the performances that Haaland has put in over the past few years, it is not hard to see why. He has been absolutely sensational, his record is phenomenal and one could even argue that he is the best striker in the world right now.
If Manchester United were able to sign Haaland, it would be considered as a major coup. But it goes without saying that there will be some tough competition for his signature, whenever he does end up departing Borussia Dortmund.
A release clause is believed to be becoming active in his contract next summer and as a result, one can expect a Haaland transfer race then. And it feels very likely that Manchester United will be in the mix of things.
