While we are expected to have one of the tightest Premier League title races in recent memory this season, the most impactful move of the season appears to have taken place already with the takeover of Newcastle United. And it could have an impact on Manchester United both on and off the pitch.
It is very possible that this takeover could have an effect on Newcastle United similar to what happened with Manchester City over a decade ago. As we know, they are now firmly established as one of the best clubs in world football and have most probably been England’s best team over the past decade.
Of course, that will mean more competition for a top four spot, which is not great news for Manchester United who have bounced around the Premier League table since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.
And now it appears that Newcastle United have their eyes set on a couple of Manchester United stars as well.
Newcastle United want to sign two Manchester United stars in January
As reported by The Northern Echo, Newcastle United are set to target Manchester United stars, Jesse Lingard and Eric Bailly, in the upcoming January transfer window.
Neither Lingard nor Bailly have been a regular part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI in recent times and as a result, them possibly leaving in the future would not come as a massive surprise. A project as exciting as Newcastle United could be tempting as well.
Of course, it remains to be seen what the future holds but for the time being, they are important members of Manchester United’s squad. While the duo might not be regular starters but they certainly do have a role to play for the Red Devils and if they do end up leaving, the club will have to bring in some cover, whether it is from their own academy or other clubs.
