Manchester United have made a slow start to their 2021/22 campaign to say the least. After signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton over the summer, they were expected to be one of the frontrunners in the Premier League title race while competing in the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup as well.
It is safe to say that the recent performances and results have left a lot to be desired. They are already out of the League Cup, fourth in the Premier League with the same number of points as Manchester City, Everton and Brighton & Hove Albion and in a tricky situation in their Champions League group.
Thus, it goes without saying that Manchester United’s performances need to improve moving forward. Over the last six games, they have just won twice.
There is no denying the fact that they have one of the strongest squads in world football today though and there are quite a few players who have not gotten regular playing time this season. As a result, it would not come as a surprise if some of them did end up leaving in January.
3 Manchester United players who could leave in January
Here are three Manchester United players, who could end up departing Old Trafford in the upcoming January transfer window:
Edinson Cavani

After a slow start to life at Manchester United after arriving in the summer of 2020, Edinson Cavani enjoyed a spectacular second half to the 2020/21 season and at one point of time, was looking like one of the best strikers in the world despite being 34 years of age.
But, opportunities are expected to be hard to come by this time around following the return of Ronaldo to Old Trafford.
As a result, Cavani looks pretty much like the second choice striker at Old Trafford right now and has already been linked with a move away in the upcoming January transfer window if he does not get enough playing time moving forward.
