Manchester United’s recent form has been a worry. Coming into the season, many would have expected them to challenge for the Premier League title this season after the signings of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton over the course of the summer transfer window. And while that could still happen, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have not looked great in recent weeks.
In their last six games, they have only won two. As a result, they have slipped down from first to fourth in the Premier League table, are already out of the League Cup and find themselves in a tricky situation in their Champions League group as well.
Manchester United fans would have been hoping for them to find some momentum after their dramatic 2-1 win over Villarreal in the Champions League. But the Red Devils could only manage a 1-1 draw against Everton in their following game.
Mirror Football tweeted out a video of Sir Alex Ferguson talking to Khabib Nurmagomedov, saying:
"“But I also think that they saw Ronaldo wasn’t playing…”"
Khabib said:
"“He came on in the second-half.”"
Ferguson replied:
"“I know, but you should always start with your best players.”"
Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t start for Manchester United against Everton
After four seasons without a trophy, there will be a lot of pressure on Manchester United to end that streak this time around. Despite the team showing a lot of progress during his time at Old Trafford, Solskjaer himself has not won a trophy as the club’s manager.
It must be said though that we are still very early in the season and it is not time to look too much into the points table. A good run of form and Manchester United can easily reach the top. At this moment, they are just two points behind league leaders Chelsea, one behind Liverpool and on the same number of points as Manchester City.
Hopefully, Manchester United will rediscover their form soon and start winning games on a consistent basis. They still have three trophies to compete for.
