It was another disappointing game for Manchester United as they could only manage a 1-1 draw against Everton. Anthony Martial put the Red Devils ahead just before half-time only for Andros Townsend to equalise in the second half. And after 90 minutes, the two sides could not be separated and had to share the points.

As a result, Manchester United’s disappointing run of results continued. While the win against Villarreal was a welcome boost, they could not use that result to bounce back against the Toffees on Saturday.

With Chelsea winning their game against Southampton, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are now two points behind in the title race and could fall further behind depending upon the result of the Liverpool vs Manchester City game.

It is clear that things have not gone Manchester United’s way in recent games, with them having just two wins from their last six games. And both of them could have gone either way as well. Speaking after the draw against Everton, as reported by The Irish Times, Bruno Fernandes told the BBC:

"“We should win this game.“We should create more chances.“We should not concede that kind of goal. It’s not the first time and we have to look at our mistakes and see what we can do.“We don’t look at the league table at this moment but of course we should have more points. We drop points at home and we should not do that.“These last two games at home was not good enough in the Premier League.“If we want silverware at the end of the season we have to do much better.”"

Manchester United need to improve if they are to challenge for the Premier League

At the start of the season, the four clubs who were expected to compete for the Premier League title this season were Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

And it is safe to say that out of those four, Manchester United have had the easiest start to the season in terms of fixtures. But, they have not managed to make the best out of those games and could find themselves behind all those teams at the end of matchday 7 depending upon the Manchester City vs Liverpool result.

Thus, it is safe to say that the Red Devils need to improve quite a bit if they are to indeed challenge for the Premier League title this season.
