Manchester United are in the middle of a bad run of form. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have lost three of their last four games in all competitions. As a result, they are already out of the League Cup. They lost their opening Champions League group stage game of the campaign against Young Boys. And their unbeaten start to the Premier League season also came to an end recently at the hands of Aston Villa.

Thus, it goes without saying that the Red Devils will be looking to bounce back as soon as possible and the upcoming game against Villarreal provides them with the perfect opportunity to do that.

The Spanish side have not made a great start to their season either and the Europa League final defeat against them should provide Manchester United extra motivation heading into the game.

They have been handed a huge worry though in the form of Harry Maguire. He had to be brought off against Aston Villa with an injury and it does not look like he will feature against Villarreal. As reported by Manchester United’s official website, Solskjaer said about the situation:

"“Harry is, more or less, definitely out and it doesn’t look good. It’s Harry’s calf and it might take a few weeks. Let’s see how quickly he recovers. Of course, he was hoping to play against Villarreal before but he missed the last game we played against them. That’s football for you.”"

The Manchester United captain could be out for a few weeks

Manchester United have one of the deepest squads in world football right now and as a result, they have some good cover at centre-back in the form of Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Phil Jones.

But even then, Maguire is expected to be a big miss for this team. Not only has the defender been one of the most consistent players for Manchester United over the past year or so, but he is also the club’s captain and has done very well in that role.

One can only hope that Maguire is back on the pitch as soon as possible because this team needs someone like him to get through one of the toughest phases of the season coming up.
