There is no denying that Manchester United are in the middle of a bad run of form right now, which has seen them lose three of their past four games. As a result, they already find themselves out of the League Cup, in a tough situation in the UEFA Champions League and could even slide out of the top four in the Premier League table depending upon the result of the upcoming Brighton & Hove Albion game.

Thus, it is clear that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side need to turn things around quickly. And their upcoming UEFA Champions League game against Villarreal will provide them the chance to do exactly that.

Manchester United have not made a great start in the competition, having lost their opening game against Young Boys. And if they do not get a win against Villarreal either, they will be under a lot of pressure.

On the other hand, a win could give this squad a massive boost and prove to be a turning point. And Solskjaer has claimed that the Red Devils will be on the front foot, looking for the win against the Spanish side. As reported by The Guardian, the Manchester United manager said:

"“We have a Champions League game and we are looking forward to that.“We didn’t start well [in the competition] but we will be fired up, the fans and the players, for that one. We will be on the front foot looking to win.”"

The upcoming Villarreal game is very important for Manchester United’s season

One has to feel that this upcoming game against Villarreal is very important, not only for Manchester United’s Champions League campaign but for their entire season.

Questions have already been raised about the future of Solskjaer at Old Trafford and it is perhaps natural. Now, it will be interesting to see how this team performs moving forward.

If the past is any indication, we have always seen Solskjaer’s Manchester United team perform at their best when the manager is under pressure. And hopefully, history will repeat itself in midweek and they will put in a top performance against Villarreal at Old Trafford.
