Manchester United had been linked with Jadon Sancho for years before finally managing to sign him this summer from Borussia Dortmund. It was considered as a massive coup for the Red Devils, as they added one of the most exciting young talents in world football to their squad. But it is safe to say that he has not enjoyed the greatest start to life at Old Trafford.

Sancho was one of the most effective wingers in world football during his time at Borussia Dortmund. But, he has not managed to either score or assist for Manchester United till now, as it looks like he could now have to play his way back into the starting XI.

Sancho was an unused substitute in the Red Devils’ recent 1-0 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa. And him finding some form could be a major boost for a side that has been struggling a bit recently.

Borussia Dortmund chief executive, Hans-Joachim Watzke, has given his take on the situation and provided a theory on why he believes Sancho is getting so little consideration. While speaking with SPORT1 and as reported by Manchester Evening News, he said:

"“It hurts my soul that he is given so little consideration. I think his problem is that he’s not set in the English national team.”"

Sancho has not had a great start at Manchester United

There is no doubt about Sancho’s ability or talent. He has already shown what he can do in the Bundesliga as well as in Europe. Right now, it appears to be more about adjusting to his new surroundings.

But over time, hopefully he will be able to do that and show what he is capable of in a Manchester United jersey.

It is not that he has not been given opportunities. But with how tight the competition for places is in this Manchester United squad right now, it should not come as a surprise that he finds himself on the bench at the moment.

A number of players in the past have taken time to adjust to the Premier League before going on to have tremendous careers. Thus, his slow start should not be a cause for worry.
