Manchester United enjoyed one of their best summer transfer windows this time around and were able to strengthen their squad significantly. The Red Devils ended up signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton, and must be considered as one of the Premier League title favourites. At the moment, they sit joint top of the table along with Chelsea and Liverpool, although those two sides have a better goal difference right now.

As a result, after four straight trophyless seasons, things are certainly looking up for Manchester United right now. But they have big plans for the future as well.

The Red Devils have been constantly linked with a move for Erling Haaland for quite some time now and the Norwegian striker is expected to depart Borussia Dortmund next summer.

Real Madrid have also been linked with Haaland and it looks like Manchester United will face some more competition for the striker’s signature. As reported by Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta wants to bring Haaland to Camp Nou next summer although it will not be easy.

Manchester United set to face tough competition for Haaland’s signature

Cristiano Ronaldo has done brilliantly ever since coming in. While there were some doubts about how he would adjust to the Premier League, he is playing like he never left.

But at the end of the day, he is 36 years of age and is not a long-term solution for the club. On the other hand, Haaland is someone who has the potential to be one of the best players in the world for the next decade or so. Thus, making a move for him next summer would make a lot of sense.

It is clear though that competition is going to be very tough for the Norwegian’s signature. Now, it remains to be seen if Manchester United can win the transfer race.
