Manchester United have one of the strongest squads in world football right now. There are several players vying for every position in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team with competition for places higher at Old Trafford than it has been in a long time.

As a result, it should come as a surprise that there are some players who have struggled for minutes on the pitch in recent times despite their undeniable quality or potential. And moves away from Old Trafford might lie in some of their futures.

When Manchester United signed Anthony Martial back in 2015, it was seen as a massive coup on the part of the club. The Frenchman was one of the most highly-rated wonderkids in Europe at that point of time and many believed that he had the potential to be the best player in the world one day.

It is safe to say that he has not fulfilled that potential yet and has got a bit lost in the shuffle at the Theatre of Dreams in recent times. And as reported by Eurosport, Manchester United officials have given Martial’s representatives the green light to look for a new club.

Martial could be on his way out of Manchester United in the future

While the talent or ability has never been in question when it comes to Martial, he has never quite been able to find the consistency required to be a first-team regular at a club like Manchester United.

It is arguable that his debut campaign for the club was his best. And he had a great 2019/20 campaign as well, when he finished as the Red Devils’ top scorer for the season. But then, last season left a lot to be desired.

And now with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Jesse Lingard at the club, he could struggle to break into the starting XI either as a striker or as a winger. Thus, it should not come as a surprise if Martial departs Old Trafford in the future.
