While they did taste defeat in their opening game of the Champions League group stage campaign, overall, things are looking very positive for Manchester United at this point of time. They currently sit joint top of the Premier League table along with Chelsea and Liverpool, although those two clubs do have a better goal difference than the Red Devils right now.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has one of the most talented squads in world football to pick his starting XI from with quality options all over the pitch.

They had already finished second in the Premier League last season and strengthened significantly in the recently concluded summer transfer window. Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton arrived at Old Trafford over the past couple of months. Now though, it looks like the focus will be on extending the contracts of players already at the club.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Luke Shaw and Jesse Lingard are the four players on Manchester United’s ‘contracts list’.

Manchester United looking to extend contracts of four players

After making some spectacular signings this summer, it is now important that Manchester United keep their core group of players together.

Pogba, Fernandes and Shaw are regulars in the starting XI while Lingard has been in brilliant form recently and has shown that he can play an important role in this team. He has come off the bench to score in the previous two Premier League games, with the goal against West Ham United being a late winner that sealed all three points for Solskjaer’s side.

Thus, it is pretty clear that signing all four of these players would be a massive boost for the Red Devils as they all have their roles in this team. The situation around Pogba and Lingard is more urgent than the other two as their current deals will run out next summer.
