Manchester United took the football world by surprise when they proceeded to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus this summer. It was their fourth and final coup of the summer transfer window.

Already a legend at Manchester United from his first stint at the club, Ronaldo topped the Serie A scoring charts last season and was the top scorer at the recent EURO 2020 as well.

Even at the age of 36, he is going strong, as we have already seen over his appearances since returning to Old Trafford. He went on to score a brace against Newcastle United, while also scoring once each against Young Boys and West Ham United.

His addition to the team, however, has raised questions about the future of Edinson Cavani at Manchester United. He ended the previous season as the club’s first-choice striker and in sensational form. This time around, he might very well have to spend significant time on the bench though with Ronaldo playing up front.

Cavani not intimidated by Ronaldo’s presence at Manchester United

Cavani has already been linked with a possible Old Trafford exit in the upcoming January transfer window. However, as reported by ESPN Brazil, Cavani is not intimidated by the presence of Ronaldo at Manchester United. He has a contract until the end of the season and should remain at the club for the next few months.

That should not come as a surprise. Cavani has played alongside the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Luis Suarez, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe through the course of his career. Thus, a bit of competition is nothing new to him.

He has had a few injury worries recently and it will be interesting to see what kind of a role he plays in this team when he is fully fit once again. One thing is for sure, having both Ronaldo and Cavani at the club is a massive boost for Manchester United.
