It is safe to say that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made a difference at Manchester United ever since becoming the club’s manager. The progress over the past few years has been clear for all to see. Following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, the Red Devils had become a team who bounced around the Premier League table quite a bit. That has certainly changed over the past few seasons.

In Solskjaer’s first full season as the manager, Manchester United finished third in the Premier League. The following season, they finished second. And this season, it looks like they are pretty much one of the front runners in the title race.

But even then, it does look like there are some questions about whether Solskjaer can guide this team to silverware. They have come close quite a few times under his management but have not been able to get over the final hurdle.

And when the team tasted defeat at the hands of Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League group stage opener, questions were raised about his Manchester United future. As reported by Express, following the win against West Ham United, Solskjaer joked:

"“Five games into the season, I was probably down and out and lost my job yesterday.“That’s with the way it is at Man Utd.“We deserved three points. it’s a hard place to come, hopefully, these points can make a difference.”"

At the end of the day, Manchester United have not won a trophy in four seasons now and that streak needs to come to an end as soon as possible.

With Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho arriving at Old Trafford, the pressure will now be on the Red Devils to deliver silverware this time around.

They have certainly made a promising start and it should only get better over the coming months as this team gels more together. After five games, they sit joint top on the Premier League table. Manchester United have the same number of points as Chelsea and Liverpool, but those two clubs have a better goal difference at this point of time.
