Manchester United pulled off some brilliant signings in the recently concluded summer transfer window. Not only did the Red Devils sign Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton, but they also managed to complete a stunning return to Old Trafford for Cristiano Ronaldo. And on the back of these signings, it is safe to say that they are one of the favourites in the Premier League title race.

While the club have made it a habit in recent years of signing some of the most highly-rated youngsters around the world, this time around, they decided to go for experience and winning pedigree more.

One player that they have been linked with in recent years though is Ansu Fati. Some rumours have suggested that Manchester United have already had a transfer bid turned down for the FC Barcelona wonderkid in the past.

There have even been suggestions that they had enquired about him this summer as well. But it looks like Manchester United’s chances of signing Fati have been dealt a massive blow.

Manchester United handed transfer blow for FC Barcelona’s Ansu Fati

As reported by Marca, Barcelona have stepped up talks over a new contract and Fati’s main objective is to stay at the club as well.

There is no doubt that Fati is one of the biggest young talents in world football right now. Still just 18 years of age, he had already managed to establish himself in the FC Barcelona starting XI before getting injured. He has also represented the Spain national team on multiple occasions as well. He has even been given the legendary number 10 shirt that was worn by Lionel Messi for so many years.

Thus, it is not hard to see why Manchester United or many other clubs around Europe would be interested in signing him. But it looks like he could be set to remain at FC Barcelona for the foreseeable future.
