Manchester United have not enjoyed the best of luck when it comes to injuries this season. A number of players have had to spend time out on the sidelines with some of them yet to return to full fitness. Thus, it speaks of the depth of the squad that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not had any big problems navigating through the first few fixtures of the season when it comes to fielding players in their natural positions.

Of course, like any manager, he would want a full-strength squad to pick from. But that might be some time away from happening.

One man who is set to miss Manchester United’s upcoming game against West Ham United in the Premier League this Sunday is Edinson Cavani. But what is positive news is that there is a possibility that he could be involved on Wednesday when the two sides meet again in the League Cup.

As reported by Manchester United’s official website, Solskjaer said regarding Cavani:

"“Edinson hopefully will start training with us after the weekend.“Hopefully, maybe Monday.“Maybe he’ll be involved on Wednesday because he had a fantastic season last season.”"

Cavani confirmed to be out of Sunday’s Manchester United vs West Ham game

Cavani enjoyed a brilliant second half to last season. After arriving in the summer, it took him some time to find his form and fitness. But once he did, he was absolutely sensational.

At the top of his game, Cavani was playing like one of the best strikers in the world towards the end of last season and was one of the biggest reasons why the club managed to finish second in the Premier League and as runners up in the Europa League.

With the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo this summer though, his future role in this team is in some doubt. The Portuguese superstar is expected to play at striker through the course of the season as he is no longer the winger that he once was, meaning that Cavani could very well be the second-choice striker at Manchester United right now.
