Bruno Fernandes might’ve dropped possible Manchester United hint
It is safe to say that this is a very exciting time to be a Manchester United fan. Not only have the club made a good start to their 2021/22 Premier League season with 7 points from the first three games but they have also signed Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho this summer.
Thus, it is safe to say that the Red Devils have one of the strongest squads in world football right now and should be considered as title contenders this season.
One of the biggest questions following the return of the Portuguese legend has been surrounding free-kicks and penalties. Bruno Fernandes has done brilliantly with both set-pieces and spot-kicks ever since joining the Red Devils in January of 2020. On the other hand, Ronaldo has been known for taking them for almost a decade-and-a-half now.
Fernandes has recently revealed which one he prefers out of the two. While speaking with BBC and as reported by Express, the Portuguese playmaker said:
"“I really like free-kicks.“For me personally, free-kicks are something I practice and I want to get the reward of scoring. I prefer free-kicks over penalties.”"

Could Fernandes have dropped a possible Manchester United hint?
Many feel that the free-kick and spot-kick duties at Old Trafford should be divided following the arrival of Ronaldo.
Ronaldo’s game is based much more on goals and as a result, he would thrive from taking penalties. But on the other hand, he has not been brilliant from free-kicks in recent years. While he is one of the most legendary free-kick takers in the history of the game, at this point of time Fernandes might be better than him in that aspect.
Thus, it might make sense for the club to give the penalties to Ronaldo while Fernandes carries on taking the free-kicks.
This is something that might very well have been discussed at the club already and it will be interesting to see what roles Ronaldo and Fernandes play when they are on the pitch together the next time.
It must be pointed out though that it is Ronaldo who takes both penalties and free-kicks for the Portugal national team.
