Dimitar Berbatov’s spell at Manchester United might not have been very long but it was certainly a successful one as he won several trophies with the Red Devils and even got the Premier League Golden Boot on one occasion.

Incidentally, Berbatov’s first season with the club was Ronaldo’s last before he ended up completing a surprise return to Old Trafford this summer.

Now retired from football, Berbatov believes that Ronaldo’s arrival could be a luxury problem for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to deal with, as the Red Devils have one of the deepest squads in world football at the moment, especially when it comes to their options up top.

As reported by GOAL, Berbatov said regarding the club’s attacking options right now:

"“This is a problem; a luxury problem.“When you have Sancho, Rashford, Greenwood, Martial, Cavani and Ronaldo, how do you keep everyone happy here? It is possible, but it’s also near impossible because you’re always going to have someone who is not happy with his playing time, and this is the job of the manager now: how to manage all these connections, playing time and keep everyone happy.”"

Manchester United have an incredible squad after Ronaldo’s return

This is a very good point from Berbatov and it is certainly something that Solskjaer will have to keep his eyes on through the course of the campaign.

Manchester United have some incredible talent in their squad, especially up top and it will be interesting to see how Solskjaer provides them all with meaningful minutes. Mason Greenwood, for example, has been brilliant till now. But will he be a regular part of the starting XI when Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are all available at the same time?

On the other hand, Edinson Cavani is coming off of a brilliant finish to his 2020/21 campaign with the club. But his place in the starting XI is under question following the arrival of Ronaldo, who is expected to play at striker in Solskjaer’s side. Somebody like Martial will need playing time too if he is to rediscover his form this season.

Thus, it is safe to say that Solskjaer has many important decisions to make and it will be interesting to see how he handles things through the course of the campaign. That could possibly be the manager’s biggest challenge this season.
