Why West Ham didn’t sign Manchester United star revealed
It is safe to say that Jesse Lingard enjoyed a spectacular loan spell at West Ham United last season. The Manchester United star was absolutely superb during his half-a-season with The Hammers and was one of the best players in the Premier League during that period of time.
Lingard struggled to break into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team in the first half of the previous season and as a result was sent out on loan to West Ham United in January. It was there that he played some of the best football of his career.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 9 goals and provided 5 assists in 16 appearances for West Ham United last season. Those are incredible stats from any player and he played a huge part in David Moyes’ side finishing sixth in the Premier League.
As a result, most would have expected the club to make a move for Lingard this summer. But as reported by The Telegraph (via Give Me Sport), West Ham United were unwilling to meet Manchester United’s £30 million transfer valuation of the player.

Will Lingard get enough opportunities at Manchester United this season?
Lingard is in the final 12 months of his contract with the Red Devils and it will be interesting to see whether he will get enough opportunities in Solskjaer’s side this season.
He has come off the bench once till now and there have been suggestions that he is a part of the manager’s plans for the season. But considering the incredible depth that the Red Devils possess in the forward areas, Lingard will have to do brilliantly to get first-team minutes consistently.
At the end of the day though, he showed last season that on the top of his game, he is very capable of being one of the best players in the Premier League. And if he can show that kind of form this season, then he should be a regular feature in Solskjaer’s side as well.
