Manchester United’s squad depth at this point of time is very impressive. And if they can remain fit and in form, then there is no reason that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men cannot challenge for the Premier League title this season.

They had finished second in the Premier League last season and even managed to reach the final of the Europa League. Now, with the spectacular additions of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton to the squad this summer, there will be big expectations that they can end their four-season trophyless streak this time around.

Of course, the incredible depth in their squad means that some players could find minutes hard to come by. And one player who had spent a lot of time on the bench last season is Donny van de Beek.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Everton made a late attempt to sign Van de Beek on loan but failed to do so as they were told that he remains a part of Solskjaer’s plans.

Everton reportedly tried to sign Van de Beek on loan from Manchester United

When Van de Beek arrived at Old Trafford last summer, it is safe to say that he came with a lot of expectations. He had had a brilliant spell at Ajax, proving himself in both domestic and European football.

But things did not go as most would have expected. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Van de Beek made 36 appearances for the club featuring for 1456 minutes of football, and he scored once and provided a couple of assists. He is yet to feature for the side this season till now.

It was the Netherlands international’s first season in the Premier League and it is not uncommon for even top players to take some time to adjust to English football. Hopefully, Van de Beek can find his form this season and show his best once again.
