Agent breaks silence on €40 million star’s Manchester United future
It is safe to say that Donny van de Beek has not enjoyed a brilliant time at Manchester United till now. He arrived at the club last summer with a lot of expectations behind him following a brilliant spell at Ajax. The transfer fee was believed to be around €40 million.
The Netherlands international has not been able to find his feet at the Theatre of Dreams though. He has not been very effective when on the pitch and has spent the majority of his time at the club on the bench.
The 24-year-old is yet to feature this season although recent rumours have suggested that he is still very much in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans. Thus, it will be interesting to see how things transpire as the season progresses. For the time being though, he has quite a few steps to climb on the pecking order if he is to become a first-team regular for the club.
Van de Beek does not appear to be looking to leave the club though. While speaking with De Telegraaf and as reported by Manchester Evening News, his agent Guido Albers said:
"“Everyone within the club knows that Donny cannot have another season like last year.“In preparation, clarity would be provided about his role. The fans had already embraced him before, but the most important thing is that the trainer has now provided clarity in the English press.“We are happy with that. And I assume that Donny will play a lot in one of the positions in midfield in the coming period.”"

Could Van de Beek play a role in this Manchester United team this season?
The talent is not in question when it comes to Van de Beek. He has already shown that he can perform at a high level with both club and country. At the moment, it is about finding his feet at Old Trafford for him more than anything else.
The Dutch midfielder was heavily linked with a summer exit this time around but it looks pretty certain that he will remain at the club beyond this summer.
It will be interesting to see if he gets significant playing time this season though. If he does not, then it would not be a surprise to see him depart the Theatre of Dreams in the not too distant future in search of minutes on the pitch.
