Cristiano Ronaldo reacts to Manchester United star’s unveiling
After weeks of waiting, a move for Raphael Varane is finally over the line and the French World Cup winner is officially a Manchester United player.
The delay in getting the deal over the line made it impossible for the former Real Madrid star to feature in the Red Devils’ Premier League opener against Leeds United, a game that they went on to win 5-1. But Varane was unveiled as a Manchester United player in front of the fans at Old Trafford and received an incredible ovation.
It was a great move on the part of the club to make the best of the situation. Rio Ferdinand posted a video of the event on his Instagram, welcoming the club’s new signing.
Cristiano Ronaldo commented ‘Grande’ on the post. The Portuguese superstar will know Varane well from their time together at Real Madrid.

Varane can be a brilliant signing for Manchester United
It is safe to say that very few defenders on the planet have the combination of top level experience and world-class quality that Varane possesses.
He is expected to come into the team and form a partnership with Harry Maguire in the heart of the Red Devils’ defence. And that defensive partnership does have the potential to be one of the best in Europe if they can gel together at Old Trafford.
Defence has been viewed as an area of weakness in this team for a while now. They conceded the most goals out of the top four in the Premier League last season. But with the arrival of Varane, defence could actually become one of the strongest aspects of Solskjaer’s side.
The Red Devils finished second in the Premier League last season. But with the additions that they have made in this summer transfer window, the squad might very well be much stronger this season and they must be considered as genuine title contenders this time around.
