Manchester United are set to play the opening game of their 2021/22 Premier League season against Leeds United at Old Trafford. And whenever the two clubs meet, it is always a big match.

The Red Devils should be delighted with how their summer has turned out till now. They have already brought in Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton. While a transfer for Raphael Varane is not believed to be far away either.

Thus, the squad seems to be much stronger than the one that finished second in the Premier League last season and as runners up in the Europa League. And there are a lot of hopes that they can end their four season-long trophyless streak this time around and bring some silverware to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have a major worry going into the game against Leeds United though and that is surrounding the availability of a number of their players.

Manchester United look set to miss a number of their players vs Leeds United

As reported by the club’s official website, Varane is yet to complete his move to Old Trafford. Eric Bailly, Amad and Edinson Cavani are among those who did not appear for the Red Devils in pre-season. Alex Telles and Marcus Rashford are set to be ruled out due to injury. Jesse Lingard recently tested positive for COVID-19 and Dean Henderson is feeling the after-effects of the virus. Anthony Elanga also missed the final pre-season game against Everton.

Thus, it is safe to say that the club will be missing a number of their players when they face Leeds United, in what is always a tough game for any team.

Solskjaer’s side will be hoping to start this season strong and set the pace from the very beginning, because that will be important if they are to challenge for the Premier League title this time around.
