Manchester United must not let forward leave this summer
By Joshua Ryan
As Manchester United edge closer towards the new season, there has been a lot of speculation as to how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plans to set up his team.
With the addition of Jadon Sancho this summer, the Red Devils now have one of the most exciting attacking lines in world football, which poses the question – where does Anthony Martial fit in?
According to stats from Transfermarkt, during the 19/20 season, Martial registered an impressive 23 goals and 12 assists during his 48 appearances for the club, making him the club’s highest scorer that season, narrowly edging out Marcus Rashford.
As a result, expectations were high heading into the following season, but the Frenchman struggled to find the back of the net on a consistent basis in the previous campaign, resulting in Edinson Cavani moving ahead of him in the pecking order.

Manchester United must keep Martial at the club
In the 2020/21 campaign, Martial scored 7 goals and provided 9 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions according to stats from Transfermarkt, and it could not match his outstanding 2019/20 campaign.
In comparison, Rashford produced one of his best seasons for the club in terms of goals and assists, despite appearing to carry an injury for a significant portion of the season and he did fade away towards the end of the campaign.
In what was regarded as a disappointing individual season for him, Martial still managed to show flashes of his brilliance in a few games and there is no question about his ability on the pitch.
There have been rumours surrounding his future. But the Red Devils must try and keep Martial at the club. While he did not have a great campaign, he can still play an important role in Solskjaer’s side this season. One also has to consider the fact that the club does not possess a lot of depth up top at the moment.
Cavani is 34 years of age and has had his fair share of injury worries in recent times. On the other hand, Mason Greenwood does not appear to be ready to lead the line on his own yet.
