Manchester United have been linked with several players in the ongoing summer transfer window and they have brought in a few as well. Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton have already been signed and the arrival of Raphael Varane looks like a matter of time as well.

Thus, it goes without saying that the Red Devils have significantly strengthened their squad this summer and should be considered as one of the contenders for the Premier League title going into the new campaign.

One area that they could still be looking to strengthen in is central midfield, especially with Paul Pogba’s Old Trafford future up in the air as the Frenchman has only one year left on his current deal.

Eduardo Camavinga is a player who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent times. The 18-year-old is in the final 12 months of his current deal with Rennes and it looks like there is a possibility that he could decide to remain for the season and leave on a free transfer next summer. While speaking on Twitch last week and as reported by Express, Fabrizio Romano said:

"“Manchester United are really interested in Eduardo Camavinga – they love the player.“United have been in direct contact with people close to Camavinga and with Rennes to understand the price – which is around €35-40m.“Manchester United need to make a decision on midfielders, which is why the situation with Eduardo Camavinga is still quiet.“This is also because Camavinga is not in a rush – he’s out of contract in a year so he’s still waiting to pick the best solution.“Eduardo Camavinga would love Premier League football but he knows that next summer he will have many clubs joining the race to sign him as a free agent – including Real Madrid, Barcelona and many other clubs, so it will be an open race.“As of now, Manchester United are still in direct contact for Eduardo Camavinga and are looking at the situation – but are not progressing.“In the next days we will see what United decide.”"

Camavinga could be a great signing for Manchester United

If Camavinga was to leave next summer, there is expected to be a lot of competition for his signature. At 18 years of age, he already has a lot of top level experience under his belt and many believe that he could be one of the best players in the world in the future.

Thus, some of the biggest clubs in Europe are expected to try and sign him, especially because he will be a free agent at that point of time as well.

Camavinga could be a brilliant signing for the Red Devils and be a feature in the midfield for years to come. Now, it remains to be seen what the future holds. It will also be interesting to see Rennes’ stance on the situation.
