It is safe to say that Manchester United have enjoyed a brilliant summer transfer window till now and made some solid additions to their squad. The Red Devils have already signed Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton, while the signing of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid also seems to be a matter of time at this point.

They are not expected to stop their though and could make a few more additions to the squad over the course of the summer transfer window.

Interestingly, it could be Chelsea who hand them a cash boost this summer. The Blues had been heavily linked with a move for Erling Haaland over the past few months but now, it looks like it is Romelu Lukaku that they could be looking to make a move for.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, Inter Milan are looking for a transfer fee between €120 and €130 million for Lukaku. And if a deal is agreed, Manchester United would be due a windfall of at least £5 million.

Manchester United could be handed a cash boost by Chelsea’s Lukaku chase

Lukaku was at Old Trafford for a couple of seasons. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 42 goals and provided 13 assists in 96 appearances for the club.

He would end up joining Inter Milan after that, where he has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world and it looks like Chelsea are now interested in bringing back the Belgian to Stamford Bridge.

If the move does happen, it could mean a massive boost for the Red Devils’ hopes of signing Haaland next summer as well. For quite some time, it had looked like Chelsea were the favourites for the Norwegian striker’s signature but if they end up signing Lukaku, it could make things easier for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

That is for the future though and it will all depend on whether The Blues are able to sign Lukaku this summer.
