Manchester United have brought in some impressive players this summer but it looks like the time to let some players leave, either on loan or on a permanent basis, is getting close as well.

Even last season, we saw that there were a number of players in the squad who could not get a lot of game time on the pitch. With Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton already signed, and the move for Raphael Varane only looking like a matter of time, competition for places is going to be even tougher this time around. As a result, it should not be a surprise to see some players depart Old Trafford.

When Varane arrives, it is expected that he will form a partnership in the heart of defence with Harry Maguire. And that could be one of the best defensive duos in all of Europe.

On the other hand, as reported by The Athletic, Aston Villa are close to signing Axel Tuanzebe on loan for the season.

Tuanzebe close to leaving Manchester United on loan for the season

Tuanzebe has been one of the most highly-rated young defenders at Manchester United for a long time and he is also known for his leadership qualities. So much so that he has even captained the side in the past.

Tuanzebe made a spectacular start in the previous campaign. He put in an incredible display against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and many felt that it was his breakout performance, and would gradually lead to him becoming a first-team regular.

That did not turn out to be the case though. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Tuanzebe made 19 appearances and featured for 918 minutes last season.

With Varane set to arrive, he would be expected to fall further down the pecking order this season. As a result, a loan move away is the right decision and will hopefully help in his development.
