Manchester United’s plan to beat Chelsea to Erling Haaland signing
Not too long ago, Manchester United were being heavily linked with a move for Erling Haaland. The club had already tried to sign him during his time at Red Bull Salzburg. And after his incredible form for Borussia Dortmund, they were expected to make a move for him again.
Since then though, those rumours have gone a bit cold. Of course, there are a few reasons for that. Firstly, the Red Devils have already managed to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund this summer after being linked with the player for years.
Secondly, the Bundesliga giants are believed to be looking for a transfer fee well over £100 million in order to let Haaland leave this summer. And Chelsea appear to be the club with the best chance of signing him in this transfer window if the Norwegian striker was to depart Signal Iduna Park.
But it looks like the Red Devils have not given up on their hopes of signing Haaland yet. As reported by Mundo Deportivo (via Express), Manchester United are weighing up using Anthony Martial as part of a deal for Haaland.

Can Manchester United sign Haaland this summer?
It seems very unlikely that the Red Devils would be able to sign Haaland this summer. They have already completed a big deal for Sancho and there are rumours linking them with a move for Raphael Varane as well.
Also, recent rumours have suggested that Borussia Dortmund might not be too keen on players being included as part of a deal for Haaland.
Next summer, a release clause is believed to be going to become active in the Norwegian striker’s contract which is much lower than the transfer fee that he could leave for this summer. And if he ended up staying at Signal Iduna Park this season, then there might be a chance for the Red Devils to make a move for him then although competition would be expected to be very high for his signature.
