Jose Mourinho wants another Manchester United star at AS Roma
It has been more than two years since Jose Mourinho left Manchester United. Since then, the club have shown progress in several areas under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but are yet to win silverware under the Norwegian manager.
As a result, Mourinho remains the last manager to have brought silverware to Old Trafford. It has now been four seasons since the Red Devils have won a trophy.
After leaving Old Trafford, Mourinho had a stint at Tottenham Hotspur. But the club decided to part ways with him in the middle of the previous campaign as they struggled for form after a bright start to the season. He was not out of football for long though, and is now the manager of AS Roma.
A number of Manchester United players have been linked with the Serie A club since then. As reported by Il Tempo (via Manchester Evening News), Mourinho has identified Eric Bailly as a suitable candidate for a move to Italy as he looks to strengthen his AS Roma side.

Bailly linked with Manchester United exit
Bailly joined Manchester United from Villarreal for a transfer fee believed to be around £30 million in the summer of 2016. Interestingly, he was the first player to be signed during Mourinho’s stint at Old Trafford.
He came with massive expectations and was one of the most highly-rated young defenders in world football at that point of time. But a number of injuries since then have meant that he has not quite managed to find his feet and establish himself in the club’s first-team. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 106 appearances for the Red Devils till now.
When on the pitch, Bailly has often performed well. But his injury issues have kept him out of the team very often. Now it remains to be seen what the future holds for him. It is worth pointing out though that the Ivory Coast international signed a contract extension with the club till June 2024 just a few months back.
