Manchester United close to completing £68 million double deal
Manchester United are expected to make a splash in this summer transfer window and they have definitely made a bright start. After having agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of Jadon Sancho and signed Tom Heaton on a free transfer, it does not look like the club are about to stop.
There are a number of positions that the club might look to strengthen in over the course of the summer. Two of them are centre-back and right-back.
As reported by The Sun, Manchester United are close to completing a £68 million double deal for the transfers of Raphael Varane and Kieran Trippier to bolster their defence.
Both of them could prove to be brilliant additions to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad. Varane, who plays for Real Madrid right now, could turn out to be Harry Maguire’s partner in the heart of the defence while Trippier, who plays for Atletico Madrid, could challenge Aaron Wan-Bissaka for the right-back spot.

Manchester United are having a brilliant summer transfer window
The Red Devils have not won a trophy in four seasons now. And after the start that they have made to the summer transfer window, it looks like the club are determined to bring an end to that streak as soon as possible. They finished second in the Premier League and runners up in the Europa League last season.
It looks like it would take a transfer fee of around £50 million to bring Varane from Santiago Bernabeu to Old Trafford. On the other hand, it is believed Trippier’s transfer fee could be around £18 million.
Someone like Varane could have a huge impact on the club’s defence. His combination of top level experience and world class ability could make him the perfect signing for Solskjaer’s side. On the other hand, Trippier would be expected to provide competition for the right-back spot, a position that they do not possess much depth in at the moment.
