A new centre-back might very well be near Manchester United’s summer wish list now, after having agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund for Jadon Sancho and having signed Tom Heaton on a free transfer.

Raphael Varane has appeared to emerge as the first-choice when it comes to the club’s search for a new centre-back. The Frenchman has been one of the best defenders in Europe for several years. And his incredible combination of world-class ability and top level experience could make him a perfect target for the Red Devils.

But things can change very quickly in football and the club might not be able to get a deal over the line for Varane. As a result, they must keep their options open. And another player that they have been linked with in recent times is Jules Kounde.

Kounde has been one of the best centre-backs in La Liga in recent seasons and has featured for the France national team as well. And it looks he could be on his way out of Sevilla in the near future.

Manchester United receive Kounde transfer boost

As reported by Marca, Kounde wants to go out to take a sporting leap. And out of those English clubs who have asked till now, only Manchester United could convince him. Sevilla appear to be looking for transfer fee higher than €60 million and could try to reach €70 million.

It goes without saying that Kounde is a brilliant prospect. While there are certain areas of his game that he could still improve, overall, he could prove to be a great signing for any club.

But at this point of time, it does look like the Red Devils have Varane as their primary focus when it comes to signing a centre-back. Now, it remains to be seen if the club are able to sign him.
