Manchester United defender looks set to leave on loan
Manchester United are likely to bring in a world-class centre-back this summer. On the other hand, the club could also let several players leave so that they can get playing time.
Having finished second in the Premier League last season and as runners up in the UEFA Europa League, the club are yet to win a trophy under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s management. This time, however, it looks like the club are determined to bring an end to their trophyless streak. Tom Heaton has already been signed while a deal has been agreed with Borussia Dortmund for Jadon Sancho.
The Red Devils have also been linked with a move for Raphael Varane this summer, with just a year left on his current deal with Real Madrid. Recent rumours have suggested that they are the favourites for the French World Cup winner’s signature at this point of time.
On the other hand, a young centre-back could be about to leave the club on loan in search of minutes on the pitch. As reported by Manchester Evening News, Teden Mengi is close to re-joining Derby County on a season-long loan deal.

Mengi looks close to leaving Manchester United on loan
Considered one of the brightest prospects in the club’s academy, Mengi joined Derby County on loan in February of 2021. According to stats from Transfermarkt, the 19-year-old went on to make nine appearances in the Championship for The Rams in his short spell at the club.
Mengi made his first senior appearance for the Red Devils against LASK Linz in the 2019/20 Europa League campaign. But since then, he is yet to feature for the first-team again and could certainly do with some experience while away on loan.
While he might be yet to make his mark on the first-team, Mengi certainly has a lot of talent and potential. He could be a feature in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team in the near future if he can develop at Derby County next season.
