Real Madrid make approach to sign Manchester United star
Most of the recent rumours have surrounded the possibility of Raphael Varane leaving Real Madrid, with just a year left on his current contract, and joining Manchester United. But it looks like one player could make the journey the other way round, by moving from Old Trafford to Santiago Bernabeu.
A number of changes are expected in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad over the coming months. This will mean players both arriving and departing. Could Donny van de Beek be one of the players to leave?
The Dutchman moved to Old Trafford just last summer but has not managed to find his feet in English football. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored just once and assisted twice through the course of the previous campaign.
As a result, he has been linked with an Old Trafford exit multiple times already. And as reported by the Daily Star, Real Madrid have made an approach to take him on loan, with it becoming a permanent transfer in July 2022. It appears the initial loan fee will be a nominal £2 million but part of that agreement will be Manchester United are guaranteed to recoup almost all of their outlay on Van de Beek 12 months on.

Should Manchester United let Van de Beek leave this summer?
It is safe to say that the Dutch midfielder did not have a great first season in English football and spent the majority of the campaign on the bench. But there is no question about his potential, and he could very well start delivering when he is able to adjust to his new surroundings.
An exit for Van de Beek should most probably depend on what happens to other players in his position. The futures of both Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic appear to be up in the air as well, and if either or both of them leave, the Red Devils must try to keep hold of the Dutch midfielder.
On the other hand, Real Madrid were believed to be in the race to sign Van de Beek last summer as well and still appear keen to sign him despite his underwhelming season at Old Trafford.
