Manchester United handed boost in race for £100 million star
Manchester United are expected to strengthen in a number of positions over the course of the summer. One of those positions could very well be central midfield.
Fred and Scott McTominay have been Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-choice when it comes to the two midfielders sitting in front the Red Devils’ defence. And while the two have formed a formidable duo, there is a feeling that it is an area where they can improve further in.
On top of that, Nemanja Matic is set to turn 33 years of age soon and has also been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer. On the other hand, Paul Pogba’s future remains up in the air as well with just a year left on his current deal. Thus, the Red Devils could go for a new central midfielder over the coming months.
One of the names that they have been linked with for a long-time now is Declan Rice. And it looks like they might have just been handed a massive boost in the race for the 22-year-old. As reported by The Guardian, Rice has turned down two contract offers from West Ham United and wants to be informed of any bids.

Rice could be a brilliant signing for Manchester United
Despite his young age, Rice has been playing at the top level for a long-time now and is an integral member of the England national team as well.
Thus, West Ham United want to keep him at the club and with three years left on his current deal, they are not under any pressure to part ways with him at this moment. It is believed that it would take an offer over £100 million for them to reconsider their position.
However, it looks like Rice would like to play Champions League football next season and is open to leaving. Chelsea and Manchester United are two clubs who appear to be his most serious suitors.
