Defence is an area that Manchester United might look to improve in over the course of the summer. The club might be looking to sign a centre-back as well as a right-back.

Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have served as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first choice pairing in the heart of the Red Devils’ defence for quite some time now. And they have formed a formidable duo over time. But even then, there is a feeling that it is a position that the club could improve further in.

On the other hand, there does not appear to be much competition beyond Aaron Wan-Bissaka when it comes to the right-back position. Thus, it would not be surprising to see them make an addition there either.

One player that they have been heavily linked with in recent times is Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane. But now, it looks like the Spanish giants also want one of Manchester United’s defenders.

Real Madrid want Manchester United right-back

As reported by Correio da Manha (via Sport Witness), Real Madrid are interested in Diogo Dalot. The Portuguese full-back spent the previous season on loan at AC Milan.

It is worth pointing out that the La Liga giants had been linked with Dalot in the past, before he ended up joining the Red Devils. But since then, he has not managed to establish himself in the first-team picture at Old Trafford. His loan spell at AC Milan last season was promising.

Having spent time in the Premier League with Everton recently, Carlo Ancelotti will be well aware of Dalot’s qualities. Of course, this interest could open up many possibilities. No approach appears to have been made yet though.

Varane has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford, with just a year left on his current deal with Real Madrid. Thus, could Dalot be included as part of a potential deal for the Frenchman? It remains to be seen. One thing is for sure though, things are about to get interesting in the summer transfer window.
