Edinson Cavani extending his contract was clearly a massive boost for Manchester United. The Uruguayan arrived on a free transfer last summer and after a stop-start beginning to his time at Old Trafford, he was sensational in the second half of the season and one of the best strikers in the entire Premier League.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Cavani scored 17 goals and provided 6 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils, averaging a goal every 128 minutes. Those are brilliant stats for any striker.

But at 34 years of age, the Uruguayan is not a long-term solution for the club up top. As a result, there has always been a feeling that they might make a move for another striker this summer.

Not many would have expected them to go after another striker above the age of 30 though. But as reported by AS (via Express), Robert Lewandowski has offers from Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

Manchester United linked with Lewandowski

The opportunity to sign Lewandowski might be too good not to consider. Even at 32 years of age, he is still a sensational striker and is perhaps playing the best football of his career at the moment. In fact, he might very well be the best striker in the world right now.

But it is safe to say that he has already achieved everything that there was to achieve with Bayern Munich. As a result, the Polish international might be interested in a change of scenery and playing in a different league before hanging up his legendary boots.

It is expected though that Bayern Munich would not want to let their star striker leave. His current contract with the club runs till the summer of 2023.

Like Cavani, Lewandowski would not be a long-term solution for the Red Devils. But if they were able to sign him, it would immediately make them one of the favourites for the Premier League title.
