Manchester United have been linked with a number of players over the course of the past few months as it looks like the club are keeping their options open when it comes to their transfer targets this summer.

There are multiple positions in the Red Devils’ squad that might need reinforcements. One of them is central midfield. And Atletico Madrid’s Saul is one player that they have appeared to have in their sights for quite some time now.

And it looks like the La Liga champions might be open to the idea of a transfer this summer. As reported by Mundo Deportivo (via Express), he has a release clause of €150 million but Atletico Madrid would be willing to negotiate a deal at around €80 million.

The likes of Manchester United, Juventus, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, all appear to be interested in the midfielder. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Saul made 41 appearances last season, scoring twice and assisting once and featured for 2673 minutes on the pitch.

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Saul

There is no doubt that when on form, Saul is a brilliant midfielder and could bring a lot to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. And at 26 years of age, he is just entering his prime as a footballer.

But despite this, it is hard to see the Red Devils make a move for the Spaniard this summer, especially if it will take a transfer fee of around €80 million to bring him to Old Trafford.

The club have already been heavily linked with Jadon Sancho and Borussia Dortmund appear to be looking for a €95 million transfer fee for the English international. And if that move was to take place, there would be very little hope of the Red Devils trying to make a move for someone like Saul in the same transfer window.
