Manchester United will complete signing in the last week of June
Manchester United will be looking to strengthen the squad further over the course of the summer as they aim to challenge for trophies in the upcoming campaign after going four seasons without a single piece of silverware.
One of the strongest areas of the squad right now is goalkeeper. The Red Devils have two great options in the form of Dean Henderson and David de Gea competing for the first-team gloves and some impressive depth beyond them.
But the future of De Gea appears to be up in the air at the moment as it looks like Henderson has moved up ahead of him in the pecking order. Sergio Romero is set to depart in the summer as well. Thus, the club will have to make a few signings between the sticks.
Tom Heaton looks set to be the first of those signings. He is set to become a free agent and has been linked with a return to Manchester United, where he came through the youth ranks.

Heaton set to join Manchester United soon
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has said that it is a done deal. While speaking on the Here We Go Podcast and as reported by Give Me Sport, he said:
"“Tom Heaton is a done deal yes, as a free agent he is joining for two seasons with one more as an option in the contract, agreement has been completed.”"
Romano also revealed that he will have his medicals in the last week of June:
"“In the last week of June he will have medicals, he will complete his move and he will sign a new contract there as new Manchester United goalkeeper so it’s a done deal.”"
Heaton might have come through the Red Devils’ youth ranks but he never made a senior appearance for them. After a series of loans away from Old Trafford, he decided to leave on a permanent basis in search of first-team football.
He has carved out an impressive career for himself since then, playing for the likes of Cardiff City, Bristol City, Burnley and Aston Villa, and has even represented the England national team on three occasions.
Heaton’s contract with Aston Villa is set to run out in the summer and the 35-year-old is set to join the Red Devils on a free transfer, in what could be a brilliant move for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
