Manchester United are expected to make quite a waves in the upcoming summer transfer window. And one player that they have been linked with for a long time now is Jadon Sancho.

The English international has managed to establish himself as one of the brightest young stars in all of football ever since joining Borussia Dortmund. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 50 goals and provided 65 assists in 136 appearances for the Bundesliga giants. Those are extraordinary stats, especially for a player who is just 21 years of age.

He has also crossed the 10 goals and 10 assists mark comfortably, in each of the past three seasons. Thus, it is not hard to see why the Red Devils might be interested in signing him.

It is no secret that they had tried to bring him to Old Trafford last summer but ultimately a move failed to materialise as Borussia Dortmund were believed to be looking for a transfer fee around €120 million. And while a Sancho departure appears to be more likely this summer, it looks like Chelsea are very interested in the winger as well.

Manchester United could be handed transfer blow by Chelsea

As reported by The Sun, Chelsea plan to step up their Sancho pursuit by making an £80 million transfer bid with Thomas Tuchel believed to be a huge fan of the player.

Of course, this could very well be a blow to Manchester United’s transfer plans as they have had Sancho in their sights for quite some time now.

Right wing is a position that the Red Devils need to strengthen in moving forward. Mason Greenwood has been the starter there for the majority of this season and has done very well for the most part. And while this might have been a good learning curve for the youngster, his long-term future lies more centrally.

On the other hand, Amad is still just 18 years of age and might be quite a few steps away from becoming a regular starter. As a result, signing a new right winger should be high on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s summer wishlist.
