Jose Mourinho wants Manchester United star at AS Roma
It is safe to say that Jose Mourinho’s last two stints in management have not been the most successful. While he did win titles with Manchester United, it is hard not to feel that the fans had expected more from his time at Old Trafford.
On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur became the first club since his early days in management, which he left without winning a trophy at. Thus, Mourinho is expected to be keen to bounce back and will be managing AS Roma next season.
While AS Roma have made it to the semi-finals of the Europa League, they have not had a great league campaign this season. They sit at seventh in the Serie A table at this point of time, just 2 points ahead of 8th placed Sassuolo.
Mourinho would be expected to bring in a few players at AS Roma in the upcoming summer transfer window. And as reported by SportItalia (via Football Italia), Nemanja Matic appears to be a player that the manager wants at AS Roma.

Mourinho wants Manchester United star at AS Roma
Matic is a player that Mourinho knows very well. He has already managed him at both Chelsea and Manchester United in the past.
At 32 years of age, Matic is no longer a first-team regular for the Red Devils. And with his contract set to run out in the summer of 2023, it is very possible that both the club and the player could be open to a move.
But while no longer a first-team starter, it is worth pointing out that Matic very much remains a part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 31 appearances and featured for 1782 minutes this season. Thus, unless a new defensive midfielder is signed in the summer transfer window, it is hard to see them letting the Serbian leave for AS Roma.
