Not too long ago, it was looking like Jesse Lingard’s career was fading away as he spent the first half of this season out of the first-team picture at Manchester United.

While the Red Devils were enjoying a great campaign, the same could not be said about Lingard individually. Having made no Premier League appearances for the club this campaign, he ended up joining West Ham United on loan for the remainder of the season in the winter transfer window. And it is safe to say it was an incredible decision on the part of the English international.

Prior to joining The Hammers, Lingard played just 179 minutes of football across all competitions according to stats from Transfermarkt. But ever since moving to West Ham United, he has scored 9 goals and provided 3 assists in 12 appearances according to stats from Premier League’s website.

As a result, it is only natural that David Moyes’ side would be keen to make his loan move permanent. But, they are reportedly not the only side interested in signing the English international.

OGC Nice in the race to sign Lingard from Manchester United

As reported by Sky Sports (via Calciomercato), OGC Nice are back in the race to sign Lingard from Manchester United.

If Lingard continues to perform well for the rest of the season, Gareth Southgate could very well include him in the national team squad for EURO 2020. A few months ago, this would not have sounded like a possibility but that is how quickly things can change in football.

While there might be interest from Nice, at this point of time though, it does feel like that West Ham United is the most likely destination for Lingard if he does end up departing Old Trafford in the near future. He is playing regular football there and is in the form of his life as well.
