Manchester United have been linked with a number of players in recent months regarding a summer move. One of them is Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.

In fact, the Red Devils have been linked with the England international for quite some time now and were believed to be after him in the last summer transfer window too. But ultimately a move failed to transpire and he remained at Aston Villa.

Grealish has certainly taken his game to the next level since then and when on form, is one of the best players in the Premier League. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 7 goals and provided 12 assists in just 23 appearances across all competitions this season.

And as reported by Football Insider, Grealish has a release clause in his contract with Aston Villa, which he signed back in September of last year.

Can Manchester United make a move for Grealish?

Manchester United have been linked with Grealish for quite some time now but recently, Manchester City have emerged as the team most interested in signing the player.

It is not clear what the release clause is in the Aston Villa man’s contract yet, but it could possibly make the task of signing him easier for those clubs interested in him with no need for negotiating a transfer fee if the release clause is matched.

Now there is no doubt that Grealish is a spectacular player and would be a hit at Old Trafford. But is he the type of player the team need right now? Possibly not, as positions like centre-back, striker, right wing and defensive midfield will probably be higher on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s summer wishlist at the moment.

On the other hand, Grealish mostly operates through the left-wing, a position Marcus Rashford has made his own over the past few years. Thus, it might make sense for the club to go after players in positions that are in need of immediate reinforcements.
