Manchester United are at a very important stage of their season right now. They have done brilliantly till now, sitting at second in the Premier League and are in the quarter-final of the Europa League, where they will take on Granada.
Now, it will be important for the Red Devils to finish the season strong and hopefully win some silverware. But even if they don’t, the campaign should be considered as a success and one which they must aim to build upon in their quest to ultimately return to the top of English football.
The contracts of a number of their players is entering its final year or running out though. Thus, a few of them could end up leaving the club in the near future.
The Red Devils do have the option to extend a number of these contracts by a further year. And it looks like they could take up that option in the case of Juan Mata.

Mata could remain at Manchester United for another year
Mata arrived at Old Trafford back in January of 2014 after a brilliant spell at Chelsea that saw him win the Champions League, the Europa League and the FA Cup in the short span of two-and-a-half seasons there.
While there have been flashes of brilliance during his time at the club, it is safe to say that he has not managed to recapture that form for the Red Devils. But even then, he has been a very reliable player when called upon, for a long time.
It was believed that he was on his way out of Old Trafford at the end of the season but as reported by the Daily Star, it now looks like Manchester United have decided to trigger the one-year extension option in his contract.
This will be done in order to ensure that even if he does end up leaving, they can get a transfer fee for his departure. Although it is believed that the Spaniard is happy to remain at Old Trafford for another year.
