It is safe to say that Bruno Fernandes is one of the, if not the best signing that Manchester United have made in almost a decade now. The Portuguese playmaker has come in and helped transform the Red Devils into a team that can challenge for titles.

But this is not the first time that the Premier League giants have had success when signing players from Sporting Lisbon. The names of Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani come to mind immediately, while Marcos Rojo was also signed from the club.

And they might be looking to repeat the trick once again, with Sporting Lisbon’s in-form winger, Pedro Goncalves, being the player linked with a switch to Old Trafford this time around.

The 22-year-old has been in spectacular form this season as Sporting Lisbon sit at the top of the Portuguese league. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 15 goals and provided 5 assists in 27 appearances in all competitions this season.

Both Manchester United and Arsenal are being linked with Goncalves

Goncalves’ performances have managed to catch the eye of clubs around Europe and the Red Devils are not the only club being linked with him. As reported by Eurosport, Arsenal are believed to have the youngster on their radar as well as they are looking for fresh options.

It is no secret that The Gunners have not had a spectacular season and currently sit at ninth in the Premier League table. Thus, they could be looking to make some waves in the upcoming transfer window. And thus, signing a player being dubbed as the ‘Next Bruno Fernandes’ for his performances this season does make a lot of sense for them.

Goncalves is believed to have a €60 million release clause in his contract and it will be interesting to see if either club can get a deal done for him in the summer.
