Manchester United receive massive Raphael Varane transfer boost
Manchester United are expected to make some waves in the upcoming summer transfer window. The club have shown some encouraging progress under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season and going into next season, the challenge will be to mount a serious Premier League challenge and deliver some silverware.
Of course, both could happen this season as well. The Red Devils are still in the Europa League, where they will take on debutants Granada in the quarter-final of the competition. And you have to consider them as one of the favourites to lift the title this season.
On the other hand, while much less likely, there is still a chance that the Premier League title race could go down to the wire, in case Manchester City slip up in their next few games.
At the end of the day, that should not stop Manchester United from looking to improve even further when the transfer window reopens. One area they might need reinforcements in is at centre-back and it looks like Raphael Varane could be available this summer.

Could Manchester United sign Varane?
Varane has been one of the best defenders in Europe for years now and signing him would be seen as a major coup for any club.
And with his contract running out in the summer of 2022, Real Madrid appear to be open to letting him leave in the near future. According to a report from Spanish outlet ABC (via Metro), talks over a new contract with the French World Cup winner have reached an impasse. And the Spanish giants reportedly want between €60 million and €70 million for the 27-year-old.
That kind of a transfer fee for a player of his quality and pedigree in the current transfer market would probably represent a bargain. Signing him would not be easy though because if he is indeed on the move this summer, a number of clubs are expected to be interested.
