€60 million defender interested in Manchester United transfer
Manchester United have made some encouraging progress over the past year or so under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. As things stand, they sit at second in the Premier League table and are in the quarter-finals of the Europa League as well, where they will take on Granada.
But despite the considerable improvement in a short span of time, the Red Devils are expected to strengthen further in the transfer market, as the ultimate aim will be to win titles on a consistent basis once again. Something that they have not done since Sir Alex Ferguson retired back in 2013.
One area that they will be expected to improve in is defence. Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have been the main centre-back pairing this season. And while the duo have done very well for the most part, they have certain weaknesses as well.
As a result, Manchester United have been linked with a number of centre-backs over the past couple of months. One of them is Villarreal’s Pau Torres, who is believed to have a release clause of around €60 million in his current contract. And according to Manchester Evening News, he would be interested in an Old Trafford switch in the summer.

Torres could be a brilliant signing for Manchester United
Torres is one of the most highly-rated defenders in the La Liga right now. He has featured 32 times for Villarreal this season. In doing so, he has kept 9 clean-sheets and scored 3 goals as well.
He is also a left-footed centre-back, who would add a new dimension to the club’s backline if they can sign him.
There will be some tough competition for the Spanish international’s signature though. Manchester City have been linked with the defender in the past, while the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also reportedly interested. Thus, it will be interesting to see if the Red Devils can bring him to Old Trafford.
