Manchester United held talks for Bundesliga star in January
One signing that Manchester United have been linked with for a long time now is that of a right winger. It is a position that they clearly need reinforcements.
For the most part, Mason Greenwood has filled in on the right flank although his long-term future is expected to be in a more central position. Daniel James is also someone who has been getting more chances lately while the club also have an exciting youngster like Amad in their ranks.
The Red Devils did try to sign Jadon Sancho in the past summer transfer window. Ultimately, the move did not go through though as Borussia Dortmund held out for a massive €120 million transfer fee, which United were not ready to meet.
It looks another Bundesliga winger was on the club’s radar. And that is Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey. According to Jonathan Shrager, they even held talks regarding the player in January:

Signing Bailey could be a shrewd move for Manchester United
Bailey has been very highly rated for quite some time now and was even linked with a number of clubs in the past. But it is in this season that he is showing the best form of his career till now.
In 32 appearances, he has scored 12 goals and provided 9 assists through the course of this campaign. At just 23 of years of age, the Jamaican international is expected to get better moving forward. And that is an exciting thought for any club that wants him.
Thus, signing him could be a very smart move on the end of Manchester United. Although, the transfer fee is expected to play a huge role in that decision. There has been a wide variety of numbers that have been thrown around over the years, ranging from £40 million to as high as £70 million. Although, only time will tell how much Bayer Leverkusen are actually looking for.
