Edinson Cavani sends message to Manchester United teammates
By Akash Dutta
Manchester United managed to make it to the Last 16 of the Europa League despite drawing 0-0 with Real Sociedad last night. Their 4-0 win in the first leg, as Bruno Fernandes scored a brace with Marcus Rashford and Daniel James each finding the back of the net once, was enough to see them through to the next round.
But it looks like United’s deadline day signing and former PSG star, Edinson Cavani, believes that this team can improve further and go on to achieve great things. The veteran striker, since joining the club, has scored 6 goals and also provided 2 assists in the Premier League and it seems like the fans are happy with the performances of their new number 7.
And Cavani seems intent on helping the team create a winning mentality and has sent a message to his teammates over developing their mindset for the future.
That is expected from a player who has done nothing but win and score goals for almost a decade now, in what was an extraordinary spell at French giants PSG. And the Manchester United players should definitely try to learn whatever they can from the striker.
Edinson Cavani wants the Manchester United players to develop a winning mentality
As reported by the Mirror, Cavani firmly believes that developing a winning mentality depends on hard work, which helps a team to win games and titles. On the club’s official website, he said:
"“I think that your winning mentality always comes from the work you put in on a day-to-day basis.“Wanting to surpass yourself every day, wanting to prepare yourself to face up to difficult situations and when things get tough. I think that these are things that you can work on.“Even though each individual’s personality, to a greater or lesser extent, can enter into it too, I think it is something that you can work on, and which depends on your individual mental ability to face up to certain things.“There are so many good footballers here who are young and who have the time to keep on improving and growing as players.“But that will now depend on if we are aware and confident that we can go on to achieve and win things. I think that’s the way to achieve those targets.”"
The Uruguayan has been one of United’s top signings this term and could be on the verge of receiving a contract extension, as Solskjaer seems to be a fan of his abilities as well as his experience.
And he will be hoping that Cavani uses all the experience he has to turn this title race around, as Manchester City have managed to go on an incredible run and build up a 10-point lead at the top of the table.
