There are some players that you know are destined for the top from a young age. And then there are some who just come out of the blue and make an incredible impact to catch the attention of the footballing world. It is safe to say that Tomas Soucek falls in the latter category, as it looks like Manchester United are hoping to sign him in the near future.

Nobody could have expected the impact that the Czech Republic international would have when he joined the Hammers from Slavia Prague.

Before his red card against Fulham, which has been overturned since then, Soucek had played every minute of Premier League football for West Ham United this season. He has found the back of the net an impressive 8 times in the process of doing so, an incredible number for a defensive midfielder.

Naturally, his performances have caught the eye of clubs around Europe. And as reported by Football Insider, Manchester United are one of them, and they will be looking to add the midfielder in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Soucek could be a hit at Manchester United

Manchester United have been linked with Declan Rice in the past but it looks like it is his midfield partner who they could be after following his performances this season.

While the Red Devils are expected to go after a new centre-back in the summer, a central midfielder might not be too far down their wishlist either, with Nemanja Matic getting up their in age. Soucek could very well serve as the perfect long-term replacement.

Of course, what kind of transfer fee West Ham United demand for him will play a huge role in any future move. While they had signed the Czech star for just £15 million from Slavia Prague in the summer, it is not hard to imagine them asking for over £50 million after the performances that he has put in for the Hammers.
